A new nursery in the heart of Richmond will be joining the Riverside Nursery family in the new year.

Riverside Nurseries consists of a family of seven exceptional nurseries across the borough of Richmond and this new nursery will become a showcase for all the wonderful work we do with children across the rest of Riverside.

Riverside began in 2019, drawing together five already successful nurseries to begin the family.

They aim to personalise each child's education, blending the best principles of Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and Forest School to encourage their holistic growth.

Their experience – going back to the 1950s, when the nurseries were first established – shows this to be a highly effective way of nurturing their independence alongside other early years qualities – such as empathy, communication, and confidence.

Aimee Kimbell, Principal of Riverside Nursery Schools said: "Here at Riverside, our experienced and caring team gives each child individual love and attention, in a warm, nurturing environment. We love getting to know the children and their families, understanding their needs, and providing every support and encouragement we can to help them thrive.

She added: "We focus on the five Riverside dispositions: resilience, imagination, veracity, empathy and responsibility to instill within all our children the intellectual, emotional, and physical skills needed to become self-motivated learners, flexible thinkers, and creative problem solvers.

"In our beautifully crafted environment, our highly qualified educators motivate the children to become independent learners.

"Stimulating, age-appropriate activities help them master each new step and stage; fun challenges harness their natural curiosity and encourage creativity.

"Cosy, quiet corners complement thoughtfully prepared spaces for learning and play."

Riverside Nurseries believes that a child's early education prepares them for life and takes a holistic approach to learning that integrates mind, body, and spirit to achieve a rich learning experience in a school community that gives the highest priority to personal relationships and life skills.

Aimee said: "The first seven years of a child's life is the time in which a child has the greatest capacity to learn. Children are born with the ability and readiness to study their environment and are driven to become independent learners.

"This drive is fostered at Riverside Nurseries through the freedom to choose learning activities in our carefully prepared environments.

"We take pride in watching our children grow into successful, autonomous citizens – ready to spread their wings with confidence in the wide world beyond."
