Trees have been brought down across the borough by winds gusting over 70mph

Council teams are out across the borough to cope with a number of fallen trees.

Several roads have been blocked with reports of large trees down in Kew, Ham, Hampton and Teddington.

Council leader, Gareth Roberts, posted images on Twitter of trees down in Gloucester Road and Ashley Road, Hampton

Earlier, there reports of a massive tree down by Park Road, Teddington. And another one was felled by the wind in Riverside Drive, Ham.

Cllr Roberts said: "There are various reports of trees down across the borough. Please be patient if one is down near you - our tree teams will get there but it could be a while."

The police in Kew reported that the Mortlake Road junction with Taylor Avenue is blocked by a tree.

Extinction Rebellion Richmond Tweeted: "We understand that weather and climate are two different things, but we also know that as the climate changes, more extreme weather events will occur.

"This is happening all over the world already, and we are beginning to get a flavour of it here in the UK."

The Council said: "Our teams are out dealing with fallen trees and debris. A number of trees have fallen across the borough, and we're working hard to get to them ASAP.
