There is likely to be heavy traffic in Richmond at various points of the day as a partial lane closure just outside the town centre slows journey times.

The main picture shows George Street at 11am today (Tuesday, August 25).

BT Openreach is carrying out works on Lower Mortlake Road and traffic in both directions is being affected.

The AA said: "One lane closed and heavy traffic due to emergency repairs on A316 Lower Mortlake Road Eastbound after A307 Kew Road (Richmond Circus).

"Lane one closure heading towards the Premier Inn for emergency water main works.

"Affecting traffic on Richmond Circus."

Elsewhere on the roads network, there are also works taking place in Twickenham.

"Temporary traffic signals due to water main work on A305 The Green at A311 (Twickenham Green Traffic Lights)," the AA said.

"Multi signal temporary traffic lights in place for water main works after the railway bridge."
