Trackside fire causes major disruption between Willesden Junction and Richmond

A blaze on the tracks yesterday afternoon (18 June) disrupted train services between Stratford and Richmond.
Network Rail confirmed that at around 3:30pm, all services were suspended due to a fire next to the track between Willesden Junction and Richmond.
Posting on X, Network Rail said at the time: "A fire next to the track between Willesden Junction and Richmond means all lines are closed. As a result, trains may be cancelled or revised."

However, by 7pm, the train operator announced that the incident had been resolved and services between the two stations had resumed as normal.
Network Rail later added: "Trains between South Acton and Richmond are no longer disrupted following an earlier fire next to the track between these stations."
The cause of the fire has yet to be confirmed. The London Fire Brigade and Network Rail have been approached for comment
