Summer is having a day off in Richmond - rain is set to fall for the rest of Saturday and there's a chance of thunderstorms too.

The Met Office issued a yellow 'be aware' warning for London and South East England for possible thunderstorms.

It runs until 11.59pm today (Saturday, July 25).

"While many places will miss the heaviest showers, bands of thunderstorms will likely bring some disruption," the forecaster said.

What to expect

  • There is a good chance driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water and/or hail, leading to longer journey times by car and bus
  • Some short term loss of power and other services is likely
  • Some flooding of a few homes and businesses likely, leading to some damage to buildings or structures
  • Probably some damage to a few buildings and structures from lightning strikes
  • Delays to train services are possible

Temperatures are peaking today at 21C and there is a very high probability of light rain showers until 9pm.

It will be cloudly overnight with temperatures between 14-15C.
