The 10k race that gets you a free day out in Kew Gardens

Places are still available for a race next month in Kew Gardens.

Billed as "London's flattest socially distanced 10k", the Richmond RUNFEST race director Tom Bedford said his team "moved mountains" to organise it.

It is being held on the two days of the weekend across September 12 and 13 with the starting gun sounding at 8.30am.

One of the perks is that every entrant can bring two people in to enjoy the gardens after the race.

Organisers said: "Spectators are not allowed in during your race to cheer you on but they ARE allowed to meet you at Elizabeth Gate, after your run where you can all re-enter for free between 9:30am and 12pm."

The race which is being held alongside findarace.com received the green light last week and the Runfest team were delighted.

"It's on!," a message on its website reads.

"We have received final approval with all our stakeholders (including Kew Gardens and Richmond Council).

"This is however a crazy year so if we are unable to hold the event rest assured you can transfer your entry into the next event or we can offer all our entrants a full refund minus £2.50 booking fee."

How to register for Richmond RUNFEST's 10k

Visit the Richmond RUNFEST website to sign up to the Kew Gardens 10k.

It costs £40 for a non-club runner and £38 if you are affiliated with a running club.

Alternatively, you can sign up with Surrey-based charity the Princess Alice Hospice for half the price.

Runners are being asked to raise £250 which will benefit the charity which provides compassionate end-of-life care at a hospice in Esher.
