TFL has confirmed that the roadworks that have been taking place at Manor Circus in Richmond are now expected to be completed in the summer.
This is due to delays caused by the unexpected Thames Water works over the winter.
In early August, TFL started essential works on the bridge that carries traffic over the Overground and Underground railway lines.
These works include vital structural repairs to the bridge deck beneath the A316 Manor Circus roundabout, as a result of damage caused by water infiltration in the central disc of the junction.
From the Monday 25 March, a new temporary roundabout will be installed which will further improve traffic flow through Manor Circus.
The pedestrian crossings will operate independently and the traffic will return to using the give way roundabout.
Following discussions with Richmond Council, the ongoing closure of Sandycombe Road for vehicles travelling southbound will remain in place for an additional week and, subject to traffic conditions operating in a normal manner on the A316, will reopen on Tuesday 2 April.
Once Sandycombe Road is reopened, bus route 110 is expected to return to its line of route from Monday 8 April.
Following a route test, Route H37 should also be able return to line of route.
This decision will be made by TfL Buses, following review of the network operation after the temporary roundabout is installed.
Subsequently and when traffic flows have settled, Richmond Council will collect further traffic data across the Sandycombe Road area to act as a baseline comparison to traffic data already collected during the temporary closure.
This is necessary to help inform Richmond Council's future considerations for Sandycombe Road.
With the bridge deck refurbishment complete, the remaining works to improve road safety can now begin.
These works include upgraded, signalised pedestrian crossings, widened / upgraded footways, improved cycle facilities and planting.
The TFL letter, which has been delivered to residents affect says: "We are exploring with our contractors how some of the remaining phases of the project can be accelerated.
"We will provide further updates on the programme as we understand them.
"Our contractors, Taylor Woodrow, remain committed to doing everything they can to keep disruption, noise and vibration to a minimum."
