Team Richmond make the podium in London Youth Games

Young sports stars from across Richmond took the borough to second place in the 2023 London Youth Games – up from fourth in 2022.
After nine months, 31 competitions and 24 top ten finishes, Team Richmond amassed 1001 points to secure second place in the Jubilee Standings behind much larger Haringey.
The games have seen over 500 athletes aged between 10 and 17 from across Richmond upon Thames take part.
Starting back in October 2022 at the Cross Country competition, where Richmond won two bronze medals, Richmond continued to impress throughout the year.
Securing top five and medals across numerous competitions, Richmond finished six points behind Haringey and are already looking to their next achievements in the 2023/2024 London Youth Games season.
Dan Hayden, borough team organiser, said Richmond's triumph in the competition showed the quality of sports across the borough and that the London Youth Games see the best young sportspeople in London.
Richmond claimed gold in Girls Basketball and Kayak Sprint; silver in Boys Judo, Archery, Girls Athletics; and bronze in Boys Cross Country, Girls Cross Country, Girls Para Swimming,
Kayak Slalom, Girls Judo, Boys Athletics.
