Stunning photos show a full Hunter's supermoon glowing over London's skyline.

Amateur photographer Griff Hewis, 46, snapped the breathtaking shots on Saturday, 18 October from the highest point of Richmond Park.

The supermoon - known as 'Hunter's Moon' - was the third, and brightest, supermoon of the year.

A supermoon occurs when the Moon, which follows an elliptical (oval) orbit around Earth, is at its closest point to our planet.

The photos were taken from Richmond Park (image via SWNS)

If this coincides with a full Moon, we see a supermoon, making the Moon appear larger.

Griff, from New Malden, south west London, planned the shot to be from the highest vantage point possible.

The shot shows the orange-hued moon rising directly over London's iconic skyline.

He said: "I have waited quite a few years to get that shot!

"I think it turned out pretty good."
