It is results day for GCSE, BTEC and other level two students across the borough.

Christ's School was filled with "cheers and whoops" and this morning as its students opened their GCSE results envelopes.

Success stories include Lucas V receiving 11 grade 9s & 1 grade 8 and Isabella W gaining eight grade 9s, 1 grade 8 and 1 grade 7.

The Richmond school say pupils have "continued to excel" across the curriculum in numerous subjects with "exceptional top end" results of grade 9 in Chemistry, Physics & History.

It credits the results to its "inclusive nature" which has allowed students to succeed regardless of "barriers and challenges" so that they can easily transition into the next stage of their lives.

Headteacher at Christ's School, Helen Dixon, says: "Today we have celebrated the outstanding achievements of all of our students and are enormously proud of them all.

"Our students' results are testament to their commitment, resilience, hard work and the support offered by a fabulous team of teachers and support staff. We are delighted that all of their efforts have paid off and we look forward to welcoming many into the Sixth Form in September."

The Richmond Upon Thames School (RTS) celebrates its students "monumental" achievement on receiving their GCSE results.

83% of students gained a grade 4 or above in maths, 82% in English, and 74% of students achieved a grade 4 or above in both English and maths, with 60% at grade 5 or above.

RTS standouts include Layla, Georgia H, Lottie, Magdalena and Rishi who all achieved 9 Grade 9- 7s.

In addition, Charlie W has been accepted on a rugby scholarship at Millfield School, Neveah will be studying Sports Science and Exercise at Kingston College; Noah B has been awarded a scholarship to study his A-Levels at Gordon's School via the Harlequins ACE Programme; and Alex S is going to study at Global Academy.

Head Teacher, Ms Kelly Dooley, says: "They all leave RTS as resilient, courageous, and ambitious young adults. Their time here has been a journey of striving to become the very best version of themselves, and now they move forward, full of excitement about whatever challenge lies ahead.

"While many students will remain with us on campus at RTS Sixth-Form Plus, others will move on to a variety of post-16 options, and we wish them well in their next chapter."

Chair of Trustees, Jason Hughes, continues: "As our 3rd cohort of students receive their GCSE results I'm struck by the continued growth seen across all areas of the school.

"That the hard work of the students and staff has been rewarded with these excellent results reinforces the ethos and approach of RTS.

"On behalf of the Trustees I want to offer my congratulations and best wishes to all our students as they embark on the next stage of their journey and to our staff, a heartfelt thank you for the incredible job they have done. I am immensely proud to be associated with RTS."

Ahead of results this morning, Richmond Council Leader, Gareth Roberts, said: "Results day, at any level, is always a day of mixed emotions. Obviously, I hope everybody got the results they hoped for, but whatever the outcome it is important to remember this is just a moment in time.

"There'll be plenty of other challenges and, more importantly, plenty of other opportunities in the years ahead.

"And to all the support networks, the teachers and tutors, parents, grandparents, families and friends, your support has been, and will continue to be, prized beyond measure. Thank you!"

On a national level, schools minister Catherine McKinnell said results are expected to be similar to last year, roughly in line with pre-pandemic levels.
