Kew school celebrates double triumph at borough public speaking championships
By Nub News Reporter 29th Apr 2026
Kew House School is celebrating a double success after both its junior and senior teams were crowned Borough Champions at the annual Rotary Public Speaking Competition.
The competition, organised by Rotary International, challenges young people to showcase their debating, presentation and public speaking skills.
Kew House's junior team of Emma H, Neha G and Lily S impressed judges with their debate on whether William Shakespeare still serves a purpose in school education.
The school said the trio delivered professionalism, charisma and strong rhetorical skills to win the borough final and secure a place in the district final.
Kew House also triumphed in the senior category, with Sienna M, Marielena P and Monty A debating the motion that eradicating competition would create a better society.
The team overcame travel disruption on the day, with one speaker joining virtually after delays returning from a Year 12 geography field trip.
Despite the setback, judges awarded Kew House another borough title, meaning the school completed a clean sweep across both age groups.
Other schools taking part included St Mark's School and Hounslow Youth Council, with competitors also representing Rivers Academy and The Green School for Girls.
Kew House praised Head of Sixth Form Joshua Sheehan, who organised and prepared pupils for the competition.
