A person has died after an incident on the tracks at Barnes railway station - shutting South Western Railway (SWR) services for hours.

This morning all SWR services between Twickenham and Putney and those between Clapham Junction and Hounslow/Richmond were closed as the emergency services dealt with the incident.

Since then lines have reopened. Emergency services were called to Barnes station today (Wednesday 12 February) at 7am to reports of a casualty on the tracks.

Medics pronounced the person dead at the scene and the incident is not being treated as suspicious.

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: "Officers were called to Barnes railway station at around 7am today (February 12) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
