Shops express 'great sadness' in closure notices to customers

By The Editor 10th Nov 2020

Temporary closure notices have popped up in shop windows all across Richmond.

It can be poignant to read some of the messages that shopkeepers and store owners write to their customers who they may not see until December 2 when lockdown is set to lift.

The Old Ship pub wrote: "Please keep in touch with us through our online community.

"We hope it will not be too long until we can welcome you back."

Just down the road on King Street, independent bookseller The Open Book said: "Sadly we are not deemed to be 'essential' and so have to close.

"Please do write, ring, email for any book requests you have. If you are preparing your Christmas lists and need recommendations please do not hesitate."
