A White Ribbon walk will be held tomorrow - Saturday - to challenge violence against women and girls, raise awareness and call out abusive behaviour.
All are invited to join the event, which starts at 4pm takes in a route from St Margarets Station through Moormead park to Twickenham Stadium.
It will be led by the local councillors and representatives from local police Safer Neighbourhood Teams.
The event is among a number of White Ribbon gatherings organised by the Council against the background of figures revealing alarming levels of violence and domestic abuse.
In Britain, one woman is murdered every three days, while 1.7m over the age of 16 has experienced some form of domestic abuse.
An astonishing 97% of young women have suffered sexual harassment, yet just 4% feel they are able to report it.
White Ribbon is a global campaign that encourages people, especially men and boys, to act and change the culture that leads to abuse. The walk aims to encourage residents to make a stand and call out abusive behaviour.
As a White Ribbon accredited organisation, the Council is committed to preventing violence against women and making the borough a safe place for everyone. It is working with community groups and our residents to unite against the issue.
