The original Crawdaddy Club is celebrating the 60th anniversary of The Rolling Stones first taking to the stage at the historic Richmond venue 60 years ago.

A tribute event featuring a bill of exciting young artists will perform at the club, formerly known as the Station Hotel, on Friday – exactly 60 years since the Stones first performed on February 24, 1963.

This was also when the Stones first met the Beatles.

Over a 16-week residency at the Crawdaddy, the group would rapidly progress from unknowns to the verge of stardom.

The band honed their stage act at the club, received their first reviews, landed a manager, recorded a first single, and played their first festival. They also made their first TV appearance and signed on for a UK tour supporting one of their heroes, Bo Diddley.

What the Cavern was to the Beatles, the Crawdaddy was to the Rolling Stones. But Mick Jagger and Keith Richard were from Deptford, while Bill Wyman was from Lewisham and Charlie Watts from Wembley.

Jagger subsequently went on to make Richmond his home with Jerry Hall for many years.

Keith Richards famously said of the venue; "My favourite place was the Station Hotel, Richmond, just because everything really kicked off from there."

The show will feature performances from:

* Meri - In addition to her own compositions, Meri will be playing her own interpretation to the following Stones' songs... I Can't Get No Satisfaction, Sympathy For The Devil, Start Me Up.

* Elizabeth - Elizabeth will be putting her own take on Paint It Black, Under My Thumb, and You Can't Always Get What You Want.

* Sunrise - Sunrise made up of husband and wife duo, Konstantin and Daria's Stones will be covering Miss You, Jumpin' Jack Flash and Anybody Seen My Baby.

* Eugenia - Ukrainian singer Eugenia will be accompanied by Daniel (Civil Rest) to put their take on Wild Horses, Out of Tears and Angie.

To celebrate this exciting part of the club's history, Music Heritage London will be hosting a tribute showcase at the same location, which is now known as One Kew Road, with some of the UK's most talented young acts, which will be streamed live around the world.

A spokesman said: "On the February 24, 1963, The Rolling Stones took to the Crawdaddy Club stage at the Station Hotel for the first night of a four-month residency that helped to launch their illustrious career.

"Music legends are also on the guest list as we pay homage to the world's greatest ever rock band and the era defining hits they wrote, now being performed by the stars of tomorrow."

For fans wanting to walk in the footsteps of their music heroes, there will be a 90-minute walking tour of Stones' locations in Richmond. Meet inside One Kew Road at 4.00pm
