Richmond's Extinction Rebellion activists show up for Parliament protests

By Guest 3rd Sep 2020

The Richmond branch of Extinction Rebellion took part in a protest Tuesday which kicked off 10 days of action to highlight the climate change crisis.

The south west London based group joined other protesters outside Parliament where MP Caroline Lucas announced that she will table the Climate & Ecological Emergency Bill.

The group is asking residents to call or write to their MPs and urge them to support the bill.

Commenting on reports of arrests at the protests, one Facebook post read: "We are not the story. Whether Extinction Rebellion's nonviolent tactics are right is not the story. Protesting during COVID is not the story. The story is the government's catastrophic failure to act on the climate emergency and the ecological crisis."

The Facebook and Twitter pages continue to share updates regarding the protests and Richmond Extinction Rebellion's involvement.
