A popular Spanish tapas bar in Richmond is looking to introduce weekly flamenco nights.

Rincon Bar Español on Paradise Road says it hopes to bring the passion and energy of flamenco to the borough through regular music evenings featuring guitarist Adrián Sola and performances of traditional song and dance.

The evenings aim to showcase the best of modern Spanish flamenco artists in the intimate setting of an authentic Spanish bar.

Sola, a skilled flamenco guitarist, will be joined by a singer and dancer every six to eight weeks, when Rincon's wooden floorboards will be transformed into a 'tablao' — the traditional flamenco stage.

Guests can expect the evocative sounds of clapping, shouting and foot-stomping as the bar comes alive with rhythm and spirit.

Owners and cousins, Felipe and Gianni Izquierdo, said: "Flamenco is more than just a dance; it's a passionate form of expression, storytelling, and cultural heritage that has been used throughout history — both as a tool of resistance and as a symbol of national identity.

"It is an art of expression, power and confidence that enlivens an audience and invites them to feel deeply and truly connect with the artists."

Made up of four forms; baile (dance), cante (song), toque (guitar) and jaleo (cheers and shouts), flamenco allows for improvisation, meaning that no two performances will ever be the same and each dancer can express their own unique and personal style.

Rincon has hosted flamenco artists since 2022, with performers often appearing one night at Teatro Cervantes and the next at the bar.

There is no entry fee, and a £25 deposit secures a place, which can be redeemed in full for food and drink on the evening.

Rincon covers the cost of supporting the artists directly.
