Richmond music teacher to star on Channel 4’s The Piano

A music teacher from a Richmond-based charity is set to feature on Channel 4's popular show The Piano this weekend.
Edison R. Carolino, Musical Director at the Otakar Kraus Music Trust (OKMT), will appear on the show – hosted by BAFTA-winning presenter Claudia Winkleman – on Sunday, 11 May at 9pm.
The Piano follows talented amateur pianists performing in public spaces and train stations across the UK, with each performance judged by acclaimed musicians Mika and Jon Batiste.
The most outstanding performers are invited to play in a final concert at London's prestigious Royal Festival Hall.
Carolino's episode was filmed at Heathrow Terminal 5, where he performed a piece by a Brazilian composer, showcasing his skill and flair at the piano.

OKMT shared the news on social media, saying: "We are so impressed that out of thousands of applicants, Carolino was chosen to be on the programme… We can't wait to see it!"
The Otakar Kraus Music Trust, based in Richmond, was founded in 1991 by Dr Margaret Lobo and her husband Walter.
The charity provides music therapy for children and adults with a wide range of physical, emotional, and behavioural challenges.
Carolino has played a vital role in the development of OKMT's services.
Alongside Dr Lobo, he helped found the OK Music School and created the IRP technique – a specialist teaching method that has helped many young people with disabilities learn to play an instrument.
Reflecting on the experience, the musician said: "Taking part in The Piano was one of the highlights of my music career and the memories will always hold a special place in my heart."
You can catch Carolino's performance on The Piano, Series 3, Episode 5, airing this Sunday at 9pm on Channel 4.
