Heavy snow has been forecast in Richmond this weekend.

The white stuff is set to start falling at 3am tonight. It will continue into the morning on Saturday (January 16) turning heavy at around 8am.

A weather warning from the Met Office has been issued, telling residents to expect:

  • possible delays or cancellations to rail and air travel –
  • possible travel delays on roads stranding some vehicles and passengers
  • some rural communities could become cut off
  • power cuts may occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected

The snow will turn to sleet, with rain possible until about 2pm.

Sunday looks far brighter and the sun is expected to shine for much of the day.
