The Richmond May Fair Committee has announced the recipients of its 2025 Charities Fund, marking a key milestone in the Fair's revival since its return in 2023.

Organisers say when the new Committee relaunched the event, the long-term aim was not only to bring back the much-loved community celebration, but to raise enough income to support local charities with small grants.

The Committee said it was "thrilled" to be able to award grants this year, made possible thanks to the continued generosity of key sponsors Be Richmond, who have supported all three revived Fairs, and Oscars, who came on board this year.

Additional sponsorship was also provided by St Catherine's School, Cinnamon Bazaar, Digme Fitness, Drop-in Ltd, Third Space, and Pet People.

More than thirty charities applied to the Fund, which was open to organisations operating within the borough and supporting people in the Richmond Town and Hill area.

Nineteen charities ultimately received awards, covering projects across community support, health, wellbeing and the environment.

SPEAR, which supports people facing homelessness, said: "On behalf of everyone at SPEAR, thank you and all the committee members for your generous contribution of £2,000 to our work.

"Your kindness is a lifeline for individuals in South West London facing the harsh realities of homelessness."

Ruils Independent Living, which provides support services for disabled people and those with long-term health conditions, added: "We are delighted to have been chosen by the May Fair to receive a grant.

"We will be able to recruit and train some new befrienders as a result and reach out to some isolated local people who are currently on our waiting list for befriending."

Vineyard Community & Richmond Food Bank also welcomed the support, said: "Thank you, this is a brilliant direct help for those attending our services this year in meeting such basic foundational needs for them, really appreciate it."

The Richmond May Fair will return next year on Saturday, 9 May, promising entertainment, stalls, food, drink and the popular Dog Show.
