'Richmond has always been my dream'
By Cesar Medina 11th Oct 2026
"This has always been my dream" says Sammie who just opened his new barber shop in Richmond town centre.
Sammie's Studio has launched its fifth location in London with its Hill Street shop and the owner told Nub News that having one in Richmond "was the goal"
"I used to come here for walks on Sundays and run quite a lot here," said the 32-year-old.
"Obviously, it's an expensive place so we had to work our way up.
"I always planned to have a shop here."
After studying in college to become a qualified barber, Sammie at age 16 worked as a junior barber in a salon in Worcester Park - where he eventually went on to open his first studio.

He said: "I always wanted to have my own business. My first employee was my mate from college and now we are a team of 30.
"Its been an amazing journey."
Sammie's Studio offers haircuts and grooming products for men in a space built around "community".
"As you walk in you get a warm welcome, a nice coffee and then you get 40 minutes in the chair," explained Sammie.
"We take our time on the haircut, we have a nice chat - its a home experience."
Barbers are highly experienced at says the owner, but his doors are also open to hair stylists looking to develop and grow.
Sammie added: "I came to the UK when I was 13 and lived in Worcester Park.
"I then spent time in Kingston College and I give back to my community by taking on juniors from the school.
"I want to open a barbering school here at my Richmond studio.
"We want anyone who needs and help and wants to develop their skills."

So far, Sammie has taken on four junior barbers who now work across his studios, paving the way for the next generation of London barbers.
"Sammie's is an experience like no other," continued the owner.
"Come by and try Sammie's and let us take care of you and figure out the rest."
