Richmond Council is set to extend its Safe Space initiative, designed to support vulnerable residents and help people stay safe during the weekend evenings.
First launched in July 2022, the Safe Space is located outside Richmond Train Station and runs every Friday and Saturday night from 9pm until 1am.
Consisting of a gazebo with staff from partner agencies, including those from Richmond Council's Community Safety Service, Richmond Safer Neighbourhood Teams, British Transport Police, South Western Railway Rail Community Officers and Street Pastors, guidance is offered to those who might need help and advice whilst out in Richmond town centre and across the borough.
Cllr Ben Khosa, Richmond Council's White Ribbon Ambassador, said: "We all have a responsibility to end violence against women and that means taking part however we can to change the culture that allows violence to take root.
"From the Safe Space to the White Ribbon walks, there are many local initiatives that show our borough cares about women's experiences and will work as a community to make everyone feel safe."
Richmond town centre and Teddington Lock often experience blights of antisocial behaviour during the summer months and alongside a newly established Action Plan, which will include increased police patrols, the Safe Space project is hoped to maintain the borough's overall reputation as one of the safest borough's in London.
The decision to extend the project for a further 12 months coincides with the council's latest White Ribbon Walk which will take place on Saturday, June 10th starting at St Margaret's Station and making its way to Twickenham Stadium.
The Mayor of Richmond, Cllr Suzette Nicholson, will be in attendance alongside ward councillors for North Twickenham and St Margarets Cllr Alexander Ehmann and Cllr Katie Mansfield.
