Richmond's annual Community Heroes Awards are now open for nominations, with members of the public able to submit their nominees for the upcoming event.

The awards recognise the achievements and contributions of people who have made a positive difference to the London Borough of Richmond by volunteering their time and efforts to the community.

The categories for this year's awards include Community Project of the Year, Young Person Achievement, Environmental Award and many more.

Nominations can be made on the Richmond Council website, and will be open until 10pm on Monday, November 9.

After all nominations have been received, shortlisted nominees for each category will be announced on Tuesday, December 1.

Due to the current pandemic, this year's event may take place virtually. Nominees will be given more information later this year.

The event launched back in 2018, with the ceremony taking place in York House, Twickenham.

Last year's winners include Karin Noble, Steve Mindel and Nick Whitham.
