Last week, the Richmond Barbers were joined by rising Artist George Groves to unveil their group Portrait.

The Oil Painting, which stands at 130cm tall, includes seven members of the team, and was commissioned almost over a year ago by the Founder of the Barbershop George Agneli during a chance meeting between the barber and the artist in Richmond.

Situated on the corner of Red Lion Street, Richmond Barbers has proven to be one of the most popular spots to get your haircut over the last twenty three years.

With celebrity clientele, an overseas following, and frequent collaborations with artists, the environment they cultivate is nothing short of lively.

Founder George, who first established the shop in the year 2000, said: "The portrait symbolises the growth from a one man show to a team that has become family"

George, who has unveiled Portraits alongside the likes of former Astronaut Tim Peake, and Hollywood royalty Idris Elba said: "Unveiling this Portrait in Richmond last week really highlighted for me their cemented presence in Richmonds culture, the large number of people who stopped to show their admiration; for both the painting, and the barbers themselves, was a true testament to their craft, and their openness to new and familiar faces."

"The one word that always came to mind as this piece was coming together was 'Family', and I hope people can see that through the togetherness of the team in the painting."

The Portrait is now permanently on display in their barbershop for all to view at 32 Red Lion Street in Richmond.
