PRINCE GEORGE made a rare and unexpected appearance at the England vs Wales match at Twickenham Stadium on Saturday (26 February), accompanying his parents the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at the Six Nations game.
The 8-year-old, who is third in line to the throne, stood between Prince William and Kate during the match which England won 23-19.
In a pre-match interview, the young HRH reportedly shrugged when asked what side he would be supporting - but revealed that he has been learning how to play the sport.
The England vs Wales clash was also the first game attended by Kate in her new role as Royal patron of England Rugby.
Many outlets noted that this role - formerly held by Prince Harry - puts her at odds with William, who has been patron of Welsh Rugby since 2016.
Photos from the event show Kate proudly sporting an England scarf, while William wore a plain red scarf for some of the match.
George displayed no symbols of allegiance, opting instead for a blue and red puffer jacket, thought to be from Ralph Lauren.
Fans of the young Prince took to Twitter to speculate who he was cheering for and to express their delight at his surprise appearance - with many comparing his looks to Prince William or his late grandmother Diana.
