Older people in South-West London who have recently left hospital are being targeted by scam calls, police have said.

In a tweet this weekend Richmond Police wrote: "We are aware of a scam to older residents, recently discharged from hospital who are receiving calls from people claiming to represent a community alarm company & asking for payment details.

"Under no circumstance should you give your bank details over the phone."

The same warning was released by the Kingston, Merton and Wandsworth Metropolitan Police accounts.

Further advice on how to recognise a scam call and report it can be found at www.ncsc.gov.uk/collection/phishing-scams/report-scam-call
