Richmond Bridge is shut to traffic from the town centre after a collision near the centre of Richmond Bridge.

Two police cars have enforced a roadblock at the roundabout at the point that Hill Street meets the bridge.

The collision involved a blue Vauxhall Corsa and a silver Volkswagen.

Eight bus services have been affected, according to the AA.

All emergency services - fire, police and ambulance - were called to the scene.

A fire engine left the scene around 10pm.

Traffic remained open in the opposite direction, heading towards central Richmond.

The AA's traffic tracker says: "Road blocked due to accident on A305 Bridge Street Eastbound from A3004 St Margarets Road to Heron Square.

"Detour in operation - affecting eight bus routes. Affecting traffic in Twickenham. 19 Feb 2021, 10:24PM (first reported)."
