Plans to add an extra floor and nine new flats to a Richmond apartment block have been revealed.

Harepath Estates LLP has submitted a planning application to Richmond Council for the works at Garden Road.

Plans show an existing block of 90 flats - which was built in 2012 - would have a sixth storey added.

The new flats would include a mixture of one and two-bed flats.

A prior approval application for the works has already been refused by the council which raised concerns about the appearance of the building and the impact on local properties.

The updated application - which has already been met by objections - says it has addressed these issues.

It said: "The additional storey will be finished in non-combustible fibre cement weatherboard cladding with a colour and profile to match the timber cladding below as closely as possible.

"The windows will be grey to match those on the existing building.

"When constructing the new floor, it is proposed to renovate the existing timber cladding to the fourth floor and stain it to match the new weatherboard cladding above."
