Plans have been approved for a former hardware store's "dilapidated" sign to be replaced by auctioneers in Ham.

Hansons Auctioneers and Valuers submitted proposals to replace the old signage of M & J Hardware at 6 Parkleys Parade on Upper Ham Road.

The approved plans will see the existing fascia painted white, featuring blue lettering with the company's name.

Blue vinyl stickers displaying Hansons' phone number and website will also be added to the shop windows.

In its heritage statement, Historic Building Studio said: "The proposal to install a new sign on No. 6's shopfront is a heritage benefit, as the shop has lain vacant since 2023, leading to the current signage becoming dilapidated.

"A new sign will help to refresh the shopfront and restore its original character — aligning with Span Developments Ltd's vision of these units as active, vibrant commercial spaces rather than vacant or neglected properties."
