New independent publisher launches in Richmond
By Cesar Medina 21st Apr 2026
A boutique publishing house has launched in Richmond with an emphasis on local "literary roots" with a "community-focused" approach to modern publishing.
Founded by Richmond resident Zoe Verner, Richmond Literary Press is built on a rich family legacy.
Zoe's grandfather, Gerald Verner, was a prolific and widely respected murder mystery novelist who lived and wrote in Richmond.
His dedication to storytelling continues to inspire the new venture, which carries forward that tradition within the local community.
Richmond Literary Press officially opened on Friday, 17 April with a launch event bringing together local businesses, creatives and publishing professionals.
Founder and Director, Zoe Verner, said: "Publishing a book can feel daunting.
"Our aim is to support authors from manuscript development through to design, production and launch, ensuring they feel confident and supported throughout."
The company says it is committed to building a "thriving literary community".
Through regular events, authors will have opportunities to share their work, exchange ideas and connect in a collaborative environment.
Richmond Literary Press will also offer dedicated writing retreats, providing time and space for focused creative work.
Alongside her work with the press, Verner leads creative storytelling clubs in local Richmond schools, encouraging young people to explore their imagination and develop their own stories.
Richmond Literary Press is open to submissions and has already begun work on its first titles.
