The McDonalds in Richmond is to remain closed 'for a few more weeks' following a fire.

The fire in the fast food outlet in The Quadrant, near to the rail station, occurred on Saturday, July 1.

It occurred in the roof of the building and is one of a number of similar restaurant fires in the area.

Just last week, 70 firefighters tackled a blaze above the Diba Persian restaurant at the junction of Paradise Road and Halford Road.

Previously, Itsu was closed for many months, again due to a fire in the roof.

McDonalds said they will be refurbishing the Richmond outlet. A spokesperson said: "We will use this opportunity to re-image the restaurant, and will remain closed for a few more weeks."
