Met Police has arrested a man following reports he allegedly threatened staff inside an opticians in Richmond town centre this afternoon (Thursday, 26 February).

In an update shared today, South Richmond Safer Neighbourhoods Team confirmed the incident related to Vision Express on The Quadrant.

Sergeant Richard Wright said the incident saw a male allegedly threatened staff with a knife before leaving the store shortly afterwards.

Officers located the suspect on George Street and he was arrested on suspicion of public order and theft-related offences.

Police confirmed that no knife or other weapon was found in the suspect's possession.

Sgt Wright praised the response to the incident, describing it as "a really good response from all those involved".
