London TravelWatch have received 460,000 responses to ticket office consultation
London TravelWatch and Transport Focus have received more than 460,000 responses combined, with one week to go until the consultation ends.
The consultation, on proposals to close the majority of ticket offices in England ends on Friday 1 September, following an extension on 26 July.
As previously reported, the proposed closures would affect stations in the area, including Richmond, Twickenham and Mortlake.
Local people opposed the proposals at Mortlake Station on Monday,
Michael Roberts, Chief Executive of London TravelWatch, said: "With more than 460,000 responses received already, it's clear that there are strong views on the future of ticket offices.
"With a week still left to have your say, it's not too late to submit a response about your local station."
As part of the process, It is a regulatory requirement that the watchdogs and passengers are consulted.
London TravelWatch and Transport Focus will continue to analyse carefully the train operator proposals and consultation responses before they report their decisions on whether to support or object to the plans.
The watchdogs will be considering issues such as whether the station will continue to be staffed, accessibility, the alternative options for buying tickets and whether passengers will continue to be able to access facilities like lifts, waiting rooms and toilets.
