Independent traders in Richmond unite behind a fresh look
By Nub News Reporter 26th Oct 2026
An independent creative agency based on Eel Pie Island in Twickenham, has unveiled a new brand identity and digital platform for a Richmond organisation.
Colorido Studios have revamped Richmond Bridge Traders Association's (RBTA) branding, in a project aimed to firmly establish the independent businesses operating along the historic stretch between Cambridge Park and Richmond Bridge on the commercial map.
Led by local business figures Ross Fitzsimons, Matt Allard, and Richard Roberts, the association sought a brand framework, architectural identity, and website capable of representing over 40 active members.
Central to the creative output is Richmond Bridge itself, opened to pedestrians in 1776 as the oldest surviving Thames bridge in London, which served as the primary anchor for the new visual language.
Colorido Studios developed a modern identity that plays directly with the bridge motif and draws from historical signage throughout the south west London district.

The design team incorporated specific architectural details into the branding, including the bridge's original keystones and iconic streetlamp posts.
Hannah Weatherall, a designer at Colorido, conducted extensive visual research across the area, photographing structural nuances and traditional shopfronts.
These observations led to a distinctive shield emblem intended to evoke local pride, paired with a color scheme inspired by the blues of the River Thames and the surrounding greenery.
The visual identity will anchor a newly developed community website designed to function as an information portal.
The site features dedicated profiles for individual traders alongside local news, historical archives, and business resources.
To extend the brand onto the high street, the design launch includes physical assets such as promotional posters and window stickers for member storefronts.
Ross Fitzsimons, representing the Richmond Bridge Traders Association, emphasised the strategic impact of the redesign.
"Working with Colorido transformed our identity as a group of independent traders," Fitzsimons said.
"They didn't just design a logo and a website; they developed and built a complete, cohesive identity that feels authentic to who we are as independent businesses rooted in our local community.
"The beautifully presented website will help our community find us, identify our strengths, and serve them better."
For Colorido Studios, founded in 2012 by Nick Morland and Jack Kent, the proximity of the project to their Eel Pie Island headquarters added significant local importance to the assignment.
Kent commented: "We work on a huge range of projects across so many industries, but developing a new brand identity in partnership with the Richmond Bridge Traders was a particularly rewarding one for us in the studio.
"Richmond Bridge is only a short walk from Colorido HQ, so it makes a real difference to bend our design minds towards something that's part of growing our local community.
"High streets in the United Kingdom have it tough at the moment, so anything we can do to tip the scales feels like a worthy cause."
