It's not been as sunny as many would have liked, but July is finishing on a red-hot 32C.

After a grey Monday, the sun will come out and the week will see a gradual increase in temperatures, climaxing on Friday, July 31.

Tuesday will see highs of 20C, Wednesday will reach 23C, Thursday will hit 27C before peaking on Friday.

The Met Office's London outlook for the week reads: "It will turn largely dry and clear on Tuesday night as a ridge of high pressure nudges in.

"Wednesday should then be dry with sunny spells and patchy cloud.

"Dry on Thursday too, and turning much warmer as warm air builds in overhead.

"Dry, sunny and hot on Friday, with temperatures considerably higher than it has been through much of July."

The scorching weather is moving up from France and Spain, but it will be short lived, dropping to 26C on Saturday and 23C on Sunday, with sun forecast for both days of the weekend.
