Work on one of Richmond's biggest new housing developments looks set to begin early next summer.

Avanton Richmond Developments Ltd won permission from the Mayor of London last month to deliver 453 new homes off Manor Road.

The site is currently occupied by Homebase, Pets At Home and webuyanycar.com and all three businesses will have to leave before building work can begin.

A spokesperson for Homebase said: "We are aware of the redevelopment plans and have informed all team members that work in the store.

"We will be continuing to operate Homebase Richmond as normal until at least June 1 2021 and look forward to welcoming customers up until that date.

"After then, local residents will be able to visit us in our nearby Brentford, Hanworth and Streatham Vale stores."

Avanton's planning consultant Avison Young said work will start "immediately" after the site is vacated and that the whole scheme could be finished within three years.

The first phase is expected to finish 18 months after work starts on site, and will provide all of the London Affordable Rent homes.
