The unusually high tide in Richmond at the weekend saw took people by surprise and caught some car owners out.

The water in the river rose so fast on Friday that cars were left stranded and submerged.

Elizabeth Cura said: "Unbelievable high tide yesterday and my car was parked in Old Palace Lane and is now a write off as tide rose so quickly. I parked it for 20 mins and on my return found it four feet deep in water!"
