The skies above Richmond will remain quiet today as Heathrow will ground flights for sections of the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral.

All air traffic movement will be completely grounded for approximately six minutes at 3pm, when there will be a national one-minute silence.

The funeral service will begin after the minute of silence.

Planes headed for Heathrow are also banned from flying over Windsor, where the funeral will be taking place, for its duration.

Windsor lies just a few miles to the west of Heathrow.

Most of the funeral today will be held in private and the public is being asked not to travel to Windsor.

Councillor John Story, Mayor of The Royal Borough of Windsor, told the BBC: "We are asking people not to come into Windsor for the funeral, because there is going to be nothing for them to see."
