Pre-season friendlies are not often known for their competitiveness.

However that was far from the case last night when Hampton and Richmond Borough narrowly lost 5-4 to Hartley Witney FC.

The National League South side have been stepping up preparations for the new season by playing a number of friendlies and have made a raft of new signings.

Fans have even been allowed at some of the friendlies that have taken place at grounds from the seventh tier and below.

As The Beavers are in the sixth tier no fans are permitted at their home ground yet but hopefully that will change soon.

Chairman Jacques Le Bar praised the work behind the scenes at the club earlier this week as they make the ground as safe as possible ahead of the return of fans.
