Peaky Blinders star to feature in Richmond theatre production

Orange Tree Theatre in Richmond has announced the full cast for the UK premiere of award-winning playwright Lucas Hnath's Red Speedo.

American's 'most exciting' contemporary playwright, whose A Doll's House, Part 2 was seen at the Donmar Warehouse, has teamed up with director Matthew Dunster to deliver the thriller Red Speedo.

Matthew Dunster's directing credits include: Shirley Valentine, 2:22 A Ghost Story and more. 

The play is about a swimmer named Ray who is close to 'international glory' and a 'life-changing' deal, but when performance-enhancing drugs are found in the club's refrigerator, everything changes.

Here is the cast breakdown: 

Finn Cole, best known for his role as Michael Gray in Peaky Blinders and Joshua 'J' Cody in Animal Kingdom, will be making his professional stage debut as Ray.

Fraser James, known for his roles in theatre, including The Seagull, Liberian Girl, King Lear and more, will be playing the coach who wants to call the authorities when the drugs are found.

Parker Lapaine, whose television credits include the upcoming second series of House of the Dragon, will also be making her professional stage debut as the character Lydia.

Ciarán Owens who plays the role of Peter, returns to the Orange Tree Theatre, having appeared in the Bank. His other theatre credits include The Interview, Farewell Mister Haffman, Cabaret and more.

Red Speedo opens on 18 July (with a preview from 13 July) and runs until 10 August.
