Free 'Dr Bike' servicing session return to Richmond Green later this month.

Cycling has boomed as an activity over lockdown with large numbers of Richmond residents taking it up.

Keeping your bike in a good condition is important in ensuring it's safe to ride.

West London Waste are hosting a socially-distanced Dr Bike session on October 14 from 11am-3pm on the green.

What works can be done

At Dr Bike sessions experienced mechanics check everything on your bike from wheels, brakes, gears and tyre pressure to lights, racks, pedals, saddles and more.

Any minor adjustments they can make to the bike they will carry out there and then.

If there are issues they can't fix on site, cyclists will be told exactly what needs doing and given a rough guide to what it should cost at a bike shop.

How to book a slot

Anyone who wishes to bring along their bike will need to book in advance here.

Hand sanitiser will be provided and all those who attend are asked to wear a face covering.

Richmond Council's transport chief Cllr Alexander Ehmann said: "Whether you're dusting off an old bike from the shed or are a regular cyclist, it's important that your bike is safe and roadworthy. It doesn't take long for a bike safety check to take place and best of all, it's free.

"Dr Bike will see you now, Richmond upon Thames!"
