Say hello to the first five charities on the Richmond Nub News Local List.

It is our online business directory giving companies, groups and professionals a free promotion.

We are aiming to build it up into a comprehensive A-Z of what's in Richmond in one handy place.

How to add your business

And we want to feature you on it! Simply visit the Local List section of our website, click Nub It and add a few words and a photo.

We have a wide range of categories, encompassing everything from accountants to vets. These are the first five Richmond charities to sign up - in their own words.

Ruils

We are a user-led charity run by, and for, disabled people. We help disabled children and adults to live independently, be a part of their community and reach their potential. We do this by providing information, advice, advocacy, care planning support, social activities, peer support and befriending.

In response to Covid-19 Ruils quickly set up a new service 'Befriending +', the aim of which was to provide telephone befriending, prescription delivery, bespoke shopping at supermarkets, a mobile foodbank and PPE delivery to clients and GPs across the borough.

Befriending + is going strong, but we need your support. We need volunteer drivers and we need food for our food bank. Can you help?

Ham & Petersham SOS

Activities, support and services for older and/ or disabled residents of Ham and Petersham who want to get out and about, meet new friends and socialise.

We are currently operating under Covid-19 restrictions, but we are starting to reintroduce face to face services (socially distanced of course.)

We provide services to help keep the community mobile, independent and engaged. We also have a number of volunteering opportunities available to all - please get in touch.

We operate in Ham and Petersham only, and are one of the 8 neighbourhood care groups throughout the borough.

Richmond AID

Richmond AID is a charity run by and for disabled people in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames and surrounding areas.

We support people of all ages with all disabilities, including physical and sensory impairments, mental health issues and learning difficulties.

Our aim is to support disabled people to live independent lives and to have the same opportunities as non-disabled people.

Age UK Richmond

An independent charity working in the Richmond community to help older people, their families and carers for over 50 years.

We have 50 dedicated staff and 100 volunteers helping us to deliver services and activities for older people in the borough.

We want everyone to be able to love later life.

Richmond Good Neighbours

We are a small charity, based in Richmond. Our team of volunteers support over 120 elderly or housebound people who live in the heart of the borough.

Our volunteers donate over 3,500 hours per year of their time either shopping for, visiting or driving clients to medical appointments or to social activities. Essentially, they do what a good neighbour should do.

Without the work of the charity, many elderly residents would spend large parts of the week in isolation.

Volunteering for Richmond Good Neighbours is very flexible and can fit is around your other commitments.

Whether you can offer an hour per week or month, on a regular basis or otherwise - we'd love to hear from you.
