Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to a house fire on Roedean Crescent in Roehampton this afternoon.

Part of the second floor and the roof a detached house was damaged by fire. There were no reports of any injuries.

Station Commander Lucy Macleod, who was at the scene, said: "The fire was confined to the eaves of the roof of the house and crews removed tiles to expose the underlying wood and damp down remaining hot spots.

"Firefighters are continuing to carry out salvage operations and will remain on scene this afternoon."

The brigade was called at 1.50pm and the fire was under control at 3.21pm. Fire crews from Richmond, Wandsworth, Battersea and Chiswick fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation
