Everything’s just right - Goldilocks lights up Richmond

By Rory Poulter   23rd Nov 2022

Goldilocks joined the mayor for the launch of the Christmas festivities in Richmond.

Also on hand were other stars of Richmond Theatre's panto – Goldilocks and The Three Bears – as well as the Grinch and Cindy Lou Who.

The 'switch on' event took place at the new entertainment space on Whittaker Avenue, on the Richmond riverside. It was created by Be Richmond, which represents hundreds of retailers and others who are dedicated to making the area more attractive to visitors.

The switch on was led by the mayor, Cllr Julia Cambridge, and panto stars, Tamara Morgan, who plays Goldilocks, and Nigel Ellacott, as the Dame.

There were carols from the Skylarks Choir, and tasty snacks from Tapas Brindisa.

It was the first in a series of events held on the riverside in the run-up to Christmas. On Saturday there will be some festive crafting workshops.

And there will be a chance to meet Father Christmas and his Elves on Saturday, December 17, from 12.30pm to 4pm.

Visitors are asked to book booking a timed slot. In doing so, you will be making a donation to Skylarks, a borough charity that provides activities and therapies for children with disabilities and additional needs.

The grotto is on the green and is in operation until tomorrow.

Children will have a chance to meet and talk to Father Christmas and will receive a candy cane treat.
