Drivers are being advised to avoid Mortlake High Street this week as emergency roadworks cause significant disruption to traffic in the area.

UK Power Networks began carrying out urgent repair work to fix a high voltage cable fault outside 71 Mortlake High Street yesterday afternoon (Monday, 10 June).

Richmond Council say the works involve major excavations in both the carriageway and footway.

Temporary two-way traffic lights have been installed to manage the flow of vehicles.

These are being manually controlled between 7am and 7pm to help ease congestion, but delays to journey times are expected throughout the day.

Motorists are "advised to avoid the area where possible" until works are completed.

The emergency works are expected to continue until Thursday, 12 June 2025.
