A dispersal zone giving police added powers to move unruly groups on continues for a fourth day.

The Section 35 Anti-Social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014 Dispersal Order which covers Richmond Green, Old Deer Park and the town centre now runs until 9pm today (Sunday, July 19).

It was originally enforced on Wednesday "in relation to crowds in these areas causing ongoing anti-social behaviour and significant disorder", police said.

This order was due to expire on Friday evening, but Richmond Police said this morning that a new zone had been enforced for the weekend.

South Twickenham Police wrote on Twitter: "I had a busy evening enforcing the Dispersal Order in #Richmond Green which was put in at 9pm on Friday night.

"The Riverside was cleared first and followed by Richmond Green were cleared after reports of ASB on the Riverside.

"Time to book off and a cuppa."

While a dispersal zone is in place, it is a crime to:

Fail to comply with a direction given by a police officer or PCSO to disperse from the area

Fail to surrender items likely to cause anti-social behaviour, on request of a police officer or PCSO

Return within a specified period after being directed to disperse from the area.

It is the third time police have enforced a dispersal zone in recent weeks, after one which was in place over June 25-27.

Anyone who witnesses anti-social behaviour or crime is urged to report it.

They can do this online on the Met Police website, by calling 101 or dialing 999 in an emergency.
