SWR said the emergency services were dealing with an incident between Twickenham and Richmond.

British Transport Police told Nub News: "Officers were called to St Margarets station at 6.46am this morning following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

SWR has been running replacement buses, which are stopping at all rail stations between Barnes and Feltham via Twickenham.

Initially, SWR said the disruption would be over by 10am, but it subsequently changed this to noon.

The Twickenham MP, Munira Wilson, tweeted: "Such sad news. Thinking of the loved ones of the person who lost their life this morning."
