Children create 'wishing tree' outside their Richmond home

Two children in Richmond are creating a tree filled with people's wishes.

The youngsters are making a 'wishing tree' and have placed a 'chuck it bucket' outside their home in Park Road, near St Matthias Church.

Passers-by are invited to take a ribbon, write a post-lockdown wish and attach it to the railings alongside dozens of others.

Some of the many ribbons already left wish for "no more corona" and "that my grandad has a good recovery". A notice from the family says:

[i]Hello

We are turning our front railings into a 'wishing tree' and we would like to invite you to addd your wishes too. A wish for after lockdown maybe? Something you're grateful for now? Or both?

It is easy to do, simply write on a yellow ribbon (a sharpie is best) and tie it onto the end of our railings. Have a look in the tin for useful bits and please feel free to take ribbons away and come back to tie them on later.

Together we will make a wishing tree.

We also have a 'chuck it bucket'. You can write down stuff you would rather do without and throw it away!
