Cheers! Ted Lasso’s pub and Richmond’s businesses drink to the success of hit TV comedy

Ted Lasso's local pub on Richmond Green and town centre businesses have heralded the hit TV show's impact on the area.
The third and final series of the Apple TV+ series, which has been viewed by tens of millions in the USA and around the world, has attracted many thousands to the area.
It has proved to be a fabulous showcase for Richmond and is expected to have a lasting legacy, not least in terms of boosting the local economy.
Snaking lines of tourists are now a common feature of the area as people to visit locations featured in the series, which centred on the arrival of an American sports coach to manage Premier League AFC Richmond, whose nickname is the Greyhounds.
The focus of attention has been Richmond Green and The Prince's Head pub, which was renamed the Crown & Anchor for the show and was at the heart of Ted's story as he shared many drinks and meals with Coach Beard.
But the surrounding lanes, Richmond Riverside, including the Gaucho restaurant, as well as the streets in East Twickenham, Church Street in Twickenham, and many other locations now feature on tours being taken by visitors from the USA and beyond.
General manager of The Prince's Head, which is a Fuller's pub, Reece Kent, said: "The whole Ted Lasso series has had a great impact for us and for the whole of Richmond.
"There are Ted Lasso tours of the area, which are incredibly popular, and we've been delighted to welcome domestic and international visitors who are coming to see The Prince's Head, which The Crown & Anchor is based on.
"Since the show started we have created a Ted Lasso corner for those all-important Instagram moments and featured in a unique one-off Air BnB tie up whereby people will be staying in the pub overnight in the autumn."
He added: "It's just created a lovely, holistic effect – the show is so popular, and Richmond is really benefiting. I think that Richmond the location is getting even more success than the eponymous fictional football team is in the series."
The final episode of the award-winning series, starring Jason Sudeikis, Brendan Hunt, Hannah Waddingham, Nick Mohammed, Juno Temple and Brett Goldstein, aired around the world this week. There has been some speculation that it could spawn spin-off shows, perhaps involving a women's team, however that is yet to be decided by Apple.
The positive effect of the series was seconded by Be Richmond, which is the group representing town centre businesses, who work to make the area attractive to shoppers and visitors.
Its chief operating officer, Louise Abbotts, said: "Ted Lasso has had an incredibly positive impact on Richmond and really helped put the town on the map globally, particularly with North American audiences.
"It's a great showcase for what Richmond has to offer and provides a beautiful backdrop. With each new season we've seen an uptick in interest and awareness and it's becoming a must-visit destination for the diehard AFC Richmond fans.
"We'll miss having Ted in town, and a team in the Premier League, but we're optimistic that even though the show may have come to an end we'll still be welcoming Greyhounds' supporters for quite a while.
"Who knows? The finale mentioned the possibility of creating a women's team so it may not quite be the end of the story after all!"
