When 10-year-old Charlie Butcher took on a school project to connect with neighbours, family and friendly during lockdown, he came up with an idea that turned his whole street into a rainbow extravaganza.

"I asked everyone to cover their houses in beautiful rainbows to say thank you to the NHS and other key workers," said Charlie.

The St Stephen's Primary School pupil lives in Cole Park Gardens.

His mum Tracey said it's a street with a fabulous community atmosphere.

"We knew the street was a sociable one, with an annual street party, regular Christmas drinks party, Saturday night Strictly parties and Burns Night dinners," she said.

"But now we are seeing how incredibly kind and friendly our neighbours are.

"In true Cole Park Gardens style everyone got on board.

"We had rainbows made from T-shirts, bunting out of plastic bags, our nextdoor neighbour made certificates for all the children to say thank you for staying at home.

"Then we ended it with a street party and socially distanced drinks – and it brought us all together.

"It's heartwarming knowing that this community spirit still exists in the world.

"The loveliest thing was seeing people's faces as they walk down the street.

"It was so beautiful."
